The JWV Post 202 participated in the Israel Scout Program with pledge of allegiance. We then presented to the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples $250 in supoort of the Israel Scouts along with a certificate acknowledging the contribution of the Israel Scouts in helping bond the Israel youth with their American Counterparts.

10 members of JWV Post 202 joined several hundred attendees in honoring all fallen soldiers. Vice-Commander Martin Cohn and Membership Chair Erle Taub carried the American and JWV Post 202 flags. It was another amazing Memorial Day to honor past heros.

November 10, 2017, Friday, 7:30 pm – Veterans’ Shabbat, Temple Shalom. Many members of the JWV Post 202 attended in uniform. This was a great honor for Jewish War Venterans.
November 10, 2017, Friday, 11:15-1:30 – Community School Veterans Appreciation Club Program.
This was a great success with each JWV member hosted by a student. Students performed patriotic musical numbers. And they provided a beautiful lunch, too.

May 11, 2017 – Member Luncheon
16 members enjoyed conversation and lunch at Perkins Restaurant with an update from Harve Sturm, Commander, on all the upcoming activities planned during the summer. Another meeting is set for June 8, 2017. (See page 12 of the Jewish Veteran magazine.)
May 9, 2017 – A “Reunion of Two Heros”
This was made possible by the Collier County Honor Flight and was held at Cambier Park.
LTC George Hardy (r) , a Tuskegee Airman and LTC Vernon “Bo” Sigo (l), Army Air Force B-17 navigator reunite for first time since WWII with LTC. Sigo personally thanking LTC Hardy for “keeping him safe” during their missions. See article in the Naples Daily News.

We were invited to participate in the Presentation of Colors with posting of the US and Israel Flags during the opening ceremonies. This was a great event with much interest in the JWV. See Naples Daily News article.
February 19, 2017 – Monthly Meeting with Guest Speaker Joel Banow
Joel Banow is a retired television producer and director with over fifty years of broadcasting experience. He was senior director for the manned space program broadcasts with CBS, where he received a Directors Guild of America award for “Outstanding Television Directorial Achievement” for Apollo 11. He is on the board of the Naples Players and the Museum of Military Memorabilia. He is also on the advisory board of the Holocaust Museum and Education Center of SW Florida. For several years he produced Arts programming for WGCU Public Media, at FGCU. In 2007 he was honored by both Collier & Lee counties with a Star of the Arts and Angel of the Arts awards.
January 15, 2017 – Monthly Meeting – with guest speaker – Capt. Irving Elson.
Navy Capt. Irving Elson was commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve in 1982, through the Chaplain Candidate Program. He became active duty in June 1987 and was ordained a rabbi through the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. Throughout his career he has been assigned to posts both domestically and abroad and has served a variety of capacities including deployment to Kuwait and Iraq, where he participated in numerous combat engagements. Since 2012 he has served as the Colonel and Chaplain, Marine Expeditionary Force.

After a socializing brunch with bagels and nova, 16 members discussed plans for events during the coming year.
December 9, 2016 – Temple Shalom Shabbat for Solidarity Service
Harve Sturm, Cmdr. and Member Martin Cohn attended event.
More than 1000 Naples residents attended the Friday night Shabbat service at Temple Shalom showing solidarity in fighting bigotry. The JWV were represented with many members in attendance (Naples Daily News).

Max Rabinovitsj, Artistic Director of Naples Orchestra and Chorus, was the guest speaker for our annual event held at the Vineyards Country Club.
